Smell My Fete

The host with the post. Not to be redundant or anything, but Mr. Lobo is most definitely looking forward to your support at his April Fool's Comedy Shorts show, this Friday night, 7 p.m., Coloma Community Center T Street Theatre at 4623 T St. in midtown Sacramento. He'll be popping up here and there throughout the film festival like a bad penny - all the more reason to spring for the all-festival pass (quite a deal at $80, or you can gain admittance to just the Friday show for $10 , or $8 for you students and seniors).

Spontaneous Excitement Alert

Hey, Kids! Mr. Lobo and a suprise monster will be trekking to Los Altos to be a special guest at the Psychotronix film festival! Scott Moon, Bob Ekman and a crew of all-star projectionists will be throwing random bits of incredibly strange 16mm footage and a secret feature on the big screen at Foothill College (room 5015) starting at 7 pm and going on to about midnight. It's all hosted by Radio Personality Rob Emmet, host of the Norman Bates Memorial Soundtrack show. It's recommended that you bring $2 in quarters for parking - but the paltry $5 admission is the best $5 you'll ever spend (in the same way that buying one of our DVDs is the best $9.95 you'll ever spend), and it's all to benefit community radio station KFJC!

Places To Go, Shows to See

Okay, here it is. In case you didn't already hop over to the film festival's website to find out, consider this your official notice. Our April Fool's Comedy Shorts show will be at the Coloma Community Center T Street Theatre at 4623 T St. in midtown Sacramento. 7 p.m., $10 (just $8 for students and seniors, or a mere $80 for an all-festival pass!), and you know it'll be a show unlike any other. Get your live shot of CI goodness and earn even more of Mr. Lobo's immeasurable gratitude.

We're getting more and more Season 3 episodes out on DVD, and our Novelty Shop now makes it easy to order four of them using PayPal. (You don't have to have a PayPal account to buy them, and isn't that above-average news?) If you don't see the episodes you want there (yet), just drop Mr. Lobo a line. We'll be as careful as we can with shipping charges, because here at Cinema Insomnia we don't believe in "handling charges" or trying to make a profit from inflated surcharges for postage. Or you could just sidestep the whole shipping charge altogether by ordering $50 in merchandise... (Hey, we can dream.)

Come to think of it, order three DVD's for shipping to the same U.S. address and we'll eat the Priority Mail cost. Mr. Lobo is feeling generous (until the end of April, anyway).

You may have noticed the links we've added to this page for our charter sponsor and our favorite review website. The Monster Club publishes "Monster News," has one of Mr. Lobo's favorite forums, and of course he was honored to contribute the foreward to Cheryl Duran's well-written book, "Monster Movie Memories." They have been good friends to CI, and Mr. Lobo appreciates their passion for a genre which deserves all the recognition it can get...

When it comes to backing Cinema Insomnia, there's no way to describe how nice Kensforce.com has been. This site is a treasure-house of information and commentary. With friends like this, Mr. Lobo might someday be able to offer that line of Sleepless Knights of Insomnia neckties the world currently lacks.

Our intended lineup of Season 4 movies will be announced here Real Soon Now.

If you've read this far, give yourself an extra pat on the back. Cinema Insomnia would, quite literally, not be possible without the interest and generosity of so many motivated, individualistic folks all over the country. If only it were possible to take you all out to brunch.

Traveling Fools

Mr. Lobo's April 1 show will not be at the previously announced location. Instead, it will occur at a different super-secret location which will be revealed and publicized at a later date. (You can almost smell the added excitement, huh?)

3/5/05 Update

Lobo Show, Indiana Insomnia, Ken's Lens, Fong Song

The Sacramento International Film Festival spans five days, from March 30 through April 3rd, and boasts over 70 films from all over Northern California and the world. This year the festival stretches its slimy tentacles all over the city and onto more screens than ever, including The Crest, the Tower and The Hyatt. On Friday, April 1st, enjoy a "fool's day's night" out. Mr. Lobo will present a special April Fool's Day program of comedy shorts called "Yeti's Attack" in all new YETIVISION! You will believe a real live prehistoric man-beast is loose in the theatre! Free Copies of Cinema Insomnia's legendary "Bigfoot" episode on DVD will be given away to the audience members with the ugliest and worst-smelling toes! And Free Monster News #11 for all! Go to sacramentofilmfestival.com for complete schedule and Ticket Info.

Cinema Insomnia's "Prince of Space" episode will air on Tuesday, March 8th at 11 p.m. CST in all of LaPorte and Porter County in NW Indiana... and then the following week, on Fox Valley Cable in Chicagoland, March 12 at 12:30 a.m., as part of a great local show featuring different hosts and different films each week called Horror Movie Classics.

Kensforce has made Mr. Lobo uncomfortable with his gushing praise, an in-depth interview and the excellent Cinema Insomnia shrine with details that are not even revealed here on our own website!

And Stan Fong has given the world a great gift by making the "Cinema Insomnia" theme "Stomping at 3am" available online for your listening enjoyment.

A fact sheet about sponsorship opportunities has been added to our online Press Kit.

Wonderconclusion?

Bob Wilkins, John Stanley, Mr. Lobo, Doktor Goulfinger and American ScaryThis was a big one for Mr. Lobo, and fan support kept him from collapsing into a sloppy pile of biological waste. The Cinema Insomnia crew got to rub laminated badges with stars like Richard Hatch from Battlestar Galactica and Edwin Neal from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, providing fodder for CI's season 4. Even our own Mr. Lobo got some press! Rob Emmet of KFJC and Dennis of PCTV broadcast interviews on alternative community-supported media. Margo Kidder interviewed our Robot Monster! Jace Witman from TheMonsterClub.com was there covering the story for Monster News!

Our TV horror host Retrospective, Monsters of Shock, was a historic occasion - with Creature Features' Bob Wilkins and John Stanley, Dok Goulfinger, Sandy Clark from the upcoming film American Scary, and Mr. Lobo's Cinema Insomnia as a united front on the convention floor and in the conferrence hall! We met new Bay Area horror hosts Joe Flynn, Ms. Monster of B-Minus Comiks... and of course, old boo-eyes, Will "The Thrill" Viharo - who has made East Bay phenomenon "Thrillville" home to Horror Host Palooza 2005, Oct. 13 at the Parkway in Oakland and Oct. 28 at the Copia in Napa.

Cinsomiac James Richardson made a super portrait of Mr. Lobo! Stephanie brought flyers for her Star Struck Convention! Scott Moon had new Bob Wilkins Interviews Hollywood DVDs! Martin Anaya of the Sacramento International Film Festival, Members of Fantastic Frontiers, Maureen and Dan from The Werepad, Troy and Christian of MITH Productions, and Captain Greedy of Gregory Comics showed support.

Leads were given regarding Bay Area TV stations that might be interested in picking up the show, and Larry Stanley of PenguinComics agressively reminded us of his interest in helping us get on the air in Modesto. Dozens of DVD's blew off the CI end of the table. Previously unavailable titles like Prince Of Space and Bigfoot: The Mysterious Monster were especially popular and will soon be listed here, along with seven other episodes, in Mr. Lobo's Novelty Shop. We also doled out a ton of copies of Monster News #11 and sold autographed copies of Cheryl Duran's book Monster Movie Memories! We even picked up a few new sponsors!

There is so much to remember, and so much to forget... Mr. Lobo will try to get back to you all! This was the most wondrous Wondercon yet! Thanks, Cinsomniacs!
