Only 4 Weeks until the Supershow returns
For all of you that dug on the Cult Cinema Supershow way back in April, we're gearing up
for Mister Lobo's Japanese Sci-fi Supershow at the Crest Theatre on August 23rd, featuring Ultraman, Speedracer, Johnny Sokko and did we mention special guests? We'll have lots of 'em! Don't miss out!

Tonight on CI (Sacramento)
Capital city residents - tune in tonight at 11 p.m. for the Channel 18 premiere of "Carnival of Souls", from 1962. Herk Harvey directs the dear-caught-in-the-headlights Candace Hilligoss, who can't escape from the "man". An inspiration for Tim Burton and M. Night Shyamalan (among too many others). You'll gasp, you'll cringe, you'll wonder why it wasn't condensed into a half-hour episode of The Twilight Zone..

We're all in this together
The Trash Film Orgy photos now have their own gallery pages. Check out the Gallery section and click on the photo of the marquee of the showing you want to see pictures of.
The double feature showing of Robotrix and Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky was a mixed bag. The intermission
skits were cool, the movies were the finest trash that... 2001??? had to offer? That's right -- Robotrix was released on an unsuspecting populace in 2001. I'd made a guess at maybe 1986 while Mister Lobo guessed mid-'90's. Looks like we were both wrong. Trash never goes out of style.
The crowd got a little uglier than usual but luckily the "cyborg rape scene" (I'll leave it up to your imaginations what this scene involved, all you who were too faint-hearted to attend) universally shut up stoner, goth-a-billy and frat boy alike. Now, whether or not they were shocked and ashamed, or licking their lips and wishing they were that cyborg, or even not sure HOW to react, I don't know, but things did get damn quiet. It's nice to know there are still some things that shouldn't and don't warrant catcalls and jeers.
Hint to all you in attendance: cigarette smoking in the theater, throwing beer bottles and getting into heckle
wars that could possibly end in angry tears CAN get the Trash Film Orgy shut down. I know it may seem like utter mayhem but there is a large amount of controlled chaos at TFO shows. No taste does NOT mean no rules... and the rules are incredibly simple. Be cool. Throwing bottles that could actually hurt someone is NOT what TFO is about. You want
Trash Film Orgy to stick around? Then think about others. There's a lot of shit you CAN do at TFO and just a handful of things you shouldn't do and most of those have to do with possible hazards and common sense DON'Ts.
Sorry to get long-winded. All in all it was a good show.

Happy Birthday...
Jan-Michael Vincent (Deadly Heroes) turns 59 today. Whoo-hoo !

Mister Lobo's many misadventures photo-chronicled! And more!
Photos from the Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! Trash Film Orgy show at the The Crest Theater are now available in the Fanboy Lounge.
With a major turnout and a ruthless gang of Roller Girls free-wheelin' it around the Crest, the Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!
showing was nothing less than a success. The evening kicked off with a bit of weirdness, as the French Film Festival
(or something like that -- it involved Eric Rohmer in
some capacity... probably)was wrapping up just as the Trash Film Orgy
gang was gearing up for another night of mayhem. For a brief half hour or less, moviegoers from diametric opposite ends of the cinema spectrum were all under one roof. Hot merde!
The Meat Wrestling went awry and while the Trash Queen lost her reigning title by disqualification (apparently using vegan sausage is illegal in this sport), she was still the clear weiner... er... winner. She carried away more than a title - she took the commentator's heart. Literally. I wasn't
around for the intermission, but I hear the onstage Roller Girl fight gave the Matrix Reloaded's "Burly Brawl" a run for its money. Hope to see you next week!

Tonight on CI (Sacramento)
Capital city residents - tune in to the Open Channel 18 tonight at 11 p.m. for the public access premiere of "The Southerner", a 1945 "agricultural tear-jerker" starring Zachary Scott, Betty Field, Beulah Bondi.

Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron, The Supershow Returns
This saturday Mister Lobo will continue his opening host spot for the
Trash Film Orgy at
The Crest Theater. What's coming up for us at Cinema Insomnia?
Well, for all of you that dug on the Cult Cinema Supershow way back in April, we're gearing up
for Mister Lobo's Japanese Sci-fi Supershow on August 23rd, featuring Ultraman, Speedracer, Johnny Sokko and did we mention special
guests? We'll have lots of 'em! In fact, the show will be lousy with 'em! Everywhere you step, there'll be a special guest!
We'll tell you more as plans get set in stone. We hope to see you there! In the meantime, go check out the
Trash Film Orgy! You can buy tickets online
here! This saturday,
Russ Meyer's mighty classic
Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! will be playing! Meyer is
a man who has made the most of his fetish by making the most of large breasts on the big screen. His films have spawned
more band names than there
are stars in the sky. A strange connection between the
filmmaker and film critic Roger Ebert can be found in
their 1979 duel writing credit on Beneath The Valley of The Ultra-Vixens.
Russ Meyer doesn't TRY anything -- he just DOES it... wanna try him?

Trash Film Orgy photos
The Trash Film Orgy showing of Blacula was a roaring
success. Mister Lobo presented in typical Mister Lobo fashion and fun was had by all. We've put up some photos in the
Gallery section.

Trash Film Orgy tonight
We're all recovering from Mister Moon's 4th of July Film/Food/Flame Orgy, but the weekend is by no means over! The
Trash Film Orgy continues this evening with Mister Lobo kicking
things off in style -- with a severe warning about what TFO and The
Crest Theater can and cannot be held liable for! Or something like that.
Blacula is tonight's feature.
We will have a table set up in the lobby with the work of local horror comicbook artist Josef Sweeden and Cinema Insomnia
t-shirts on sale! We'll also be taking some photos of this evening's festivities, so be on the lookout here for photographic
evidence all of this actually happened.
Care to lounge?
The Fanboy Lounge is now open for your enjoyment. Attached to this section is the new Cinema Insomnia
Forum "SquawkBox", where you can sound off on everything and nothing.
This section will be getting a whole lot bigger and better. We've got our gallery and
downloads sections started, but by no means finished. Look forward to more photos, desktop themes and other weirdness.
Oh, and the fun facts and Sleepless Knights of Insomnia fan club sections
have been moved to this page. Enjoy.

That Grand Old Film, That High-Flying Film...
Every 4th of July, our film archivist and transfer specialist Mister Scott Moon throws a big bash at his hacienda, celebrating
with the tried and true methods of tons of food, lots of drinks and fireworks. But that's not all! He's got movies and
film clips, and not the snuff kind! ...well, PROBABLY not. The evening began with a Tiki atmosphere and swank tunes from
bygone (but not forgotten) eras. Drinks were imbibed, the hors d'oevres table snacked at and then it was hibachi time for
the shish ka bobs!
The evening got really cranking when Mister Moon rolled the projector out and played some classic commercials (like an old
black and white "Twister" commercial... which is really strange if you think about it), "ephemeral" clips of drive-in
intermission flicks and mighty movie trailers, like "Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers"!
Mister Moon was of course the perfect host, running to and fro to make sure drink glasses were filled, appetites were
sated and kids were entertained (quite a few parents came with kids in tow). All in all the 7th Annual 4th of July
Drive-In Movie and Fireworks Fest (unruly name, but THAT'S how good it was) was a roaring success. Thanks, Mister
Moon! Hope to see you next year!
