12/10/03 Update
In the Public Eye
It is with a mixture of emotions that we note
unauthorized Cinema Insomnia episodes are appearing on public
access stations, after official distribution has ended. Mr.
Lobo asks fans who are submitting tapes to hold off, since
we're approaching broadcast stations to pitch the show...
Bright-eyed viewers will notice that the film
schedule has changed, in comparison to our original plans
(but we used the word "tentative" intentionally and often).
Some of the movies Mr. Lobo intended to show have since appeared
on other stations and shows - and in an effort to bring more
diverse and intriguing titles to you, we're digging deeper
into the murky regions of the public domain to bring you more
of the unsung "gems".
Mr.
Lobo is now listed in the Internet
Movie Database, due to his appearance in "American Scary",
an upcoming documentary.
An interview with Mr. Lobo appeared in the
October 2003 issue of NINEVOLT
Magazine. The text of the article is not available at their
website, but (because we love you) we've posted a copy on
our Articles web page.
11/01/03 Update
Public Enemy No'mber 1?
Tonight, November 1st, there will be no public
access broadcast of Cinema Insomnia in Sacramento.
We only made 18 episodes for public access, and Mr. Lobo is
of the opinion that the constant reruns were eroding the morale
of our local fan base.
"What's next, Mr. Lobo?" He's glad you asked...
Members of the press and horror host historians, please adjust
your decriptions of Cinema Insomnia and its host. "Public
access TV film host Mr. Lobo" shall henceforth be referred
to as "Nationally syndicated TV film host Mr. Lobo."
This is officially now a commercial venture - and to survive,
all efforts must go toward the goals of this venture. We must
find more sponsors and stations and widen our "footprint."
We have two stations now, one in Louisiana and another in
Virginia.
We must rally to to add a Northern California jewel in our
sydication crown. Locally, UPN 31 seems like the most likely
possibility, but all options will be explored. We have an
all-new sydicated version of the show that is not currently
running in the town in which it is produced. We will rectify
this crime against nature soon - with your help.

Horror Host Palooza
After he rests up from all the Sacramento Festival of Cinema excitement, you can be sure Mr. Lobo will fill you in on every tasty detail. If he was conscious right now, he'd want to urge you to keep October 9 and 23 open on your calendars - come out and join him, Doktor Goulfinger and Will the Thrill at the Parkway Theater in Oakland! More info about these extra-special shows will be posted here, but you can go get it right now - at www.thrillville.net/calendar/ !
And don't you forget about the Trash Film Orgy Halloween shows, October 30 and 31, at the Crest...

The Sacramento Festival of Cinema and Cinema Insomnia Present
Mr. Lobo's Midnight Movie Supershow, Part 1:
THE TERMINATOR (1984)
This Friday at midnight, October 3rd at the Crest Theatre.
Michael Biehn, a rebel leader who rages against machines in 2029, is sent back to 1984 to stop a time-traveling android assassin ("Ahhnold!") from killing his mother (Linda Hamilton). This influential action thriller was kicked off the Sci-Fi Channel because they didn't want to give Schwarzenegger's gubernatorial opponents equal time.
The original film that spawned two sequels and a California political career is back on the big screen during the Sacramento Festival of Cinema at midnight, October 3rd in glorious 35MM on the Crest Theatre's main screen.
This low budget sci-fi/horror film was probably pitched as "John Capenter's Halloween" with a cyborg instead of a psycho. It went on to make no-names into stars, break box-office records and propel its director, James Cameron (Aliens,Titanic) to Hollywood A-list supremacy.
Mr. Lobo gives it "four eyes".
Rated R for Republican.
Presented with a surprise festival short and the hilarious 1950's ephemeral film "How We Elect Our Representatives".
Mr. Lobo's Midnight Movie Supershow, Part 2:
ED WOOD (1994)
This Saturday at midnight, October 4th at the Crest Theatre, Mr. Lobo will host the black-and-white master work from Tim Burton. Johnny Depp, Martin Landau, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jeffrey Jones head up a dream cast in this loving look at the history of 1959's Plan 9 From Outer Space.
Rev. Steve from the Church of Ed Wood will be on hand to bless those in attendance - and to give Mr. Lobo a special surprise!
Another "four eyes" rating. Rated R.
Presented with special short films.
