We Explore the world of the “Creatures of the Night” For This Week’s Theme!

Over the years, vampires have been portrayed in many different ways through cinema. The story may change but the legend remains the same. Garlic and Crosses repel them, They have no reflection, Holy Water burns, and Sunlight and Stakes kill them. Nosferatu, Bela Legosi, Christoper Lee, Gerard Butler…….no, there will be no mention of any “sparkly” vampires this week! This week we will be seeing this classic monster has been portrayed over the years through this week through pictures, clips, and much more!

We Always Need Your Help, CInsomniacs! You are the ones who keep Mr. Lobo going as well as the rest of the Cinema Insomnia family. We challenge you to represent the theme of the week! How can you do that? Tell us and show us your favorite “misunderstood” cult classic film by commenting or posting about them on our pages!

Some of you who enjoy dressing up, put on your costumes and post pictures representing the theme and you will see your picture on our pages! If any of you have vintage posters or create animations representing the theme share those as well! If you know or find pictures and video clips matching the theme post them or your personal pictures on our Facebook pages, Tumblr, Twitter, or Instagram with #CIThemeoftheweek!

Get ready for another fantastic week and remember to “Stay Young the Vampire Way!”

Our “Fan of the Week” Made an Army of Lobo Toys!

mrloboactionfigureOur Fan http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xmjGdDIOMLw/S1PKRV_ZlvI/AAAAAAAAC8s/-EgwGPWD2FA/s400/IMG_3009.jpgof the Week, LUKE HARRIS, met Mr. Lobo through the owner of Toy Fusion at a local comic show several years ago. Toy Fusion wanted to surprise Mr. Lobo with a prototype action figure as a Christmas Gift. After Mr. Lobo and Luke were introduced–They devised some toy ideas resulting in Sir Harris taking various discontinued vintage toy lines and making bootleg figures where he replaced their heads with customized ones to resemble Mr. Lobo.  These evolved from the CINEMA INSOMNIA SLIME LINE “Mini-Distraction Figures” molded in clear green to fleshy colored parodies of M.U.S.C.L.E. figures from the 80’s called M.I.S.T.E.R.S. (Many Individual Super Tough Entertaining Rubber Strangers).
Luke also made a one-off “Blockhead Mr. Lobo” and other INSOMNIAC friendly designs that the TV host is proud to own. Since the beginning Luke and his family have enjoyed watching CINEMA INSOMNIA DVDs and would pick them up at collectables shows,

“CINEMA INSOMNIA plays the type of movies I enjoy, and I love the vintage ads, and whole approach to the show,” he explained enthusiastically and continued, “What I enjoy about the show is the way Mr. Lobo works to keep vintage cinema entertaining and fresh for new generation.”

While working for another comic related show in at the Scottish Rite Center in Sacramento, his wife brought his children to the venue and met Mr. Lobo. Sir Harris’ children were “star struck” to see someone they have watched on their television screen “come to life.”

In his free time, he continues to create and make his independent toys for his side business IMPERFECZ TOYS. He has also recently purchased a ROKU box and is tuning into past and current episodes CINEMA INSOMNIA and continues to enjoy them over and over.

Turn It Up For Mr. Lobo’s Lady Fan of the Week!

10526169_930827336943901_3450313136772941615_nOphelia Necro first learned about Mr. Lobo at the Psychotronix Film Fest in Los Altos Hills back in 2003. She had been the DJ with the KFJC who was a co-presenter of the Film Fest. She was a longtime fan of Mr. Lobo’s dear friend and mentor Bob Wilkins and very soon became hooked on Cinema Insomnia while had aired on KTEH. 10559094_928601203833181_2111183007_n

Following the event, she began attending several events which evolved Mr. Lobo. One of the events included a few of them paying tribute to Bob Wilkins.

A few years later on Halloween in 2010, Mr. Lobo led the whole wedding party of Ophelia and her husband while he officiated their wedding. 10564780_930078007018834_818669716_n

10520790_930081273685174_1129081302_nA year later her and her husband moved to Sacramento, CA. During that time they got to know Mr. Lobo and Mrs. Lobo through watching bad movies. She joyfully explained she was very happy to attend the 2011 and 2012 Sacramento Horror Film Fests Mr. Lobo hosted. During the 2012 Zombie Beauty Pageant event held during the Sacramento Horror Film Fest, she placed in 3rd place.
