This FAN OF THE WEEK Loved The Show So Much She Married The Host!

Loboart1LADY SLEEPLESS KNIGHT and CINEMA INSOMNIA’s winner of the “Who Wants To Marry Mr. Lobo” contest, DIXIE DELLAMORTO made a splash as THE NEW MRS. LOBO back 2012!

This seems hardly fair and perhaps a bit pathetic to have MR. LOBO’s wife as fan of the week but YOU the SLEEPLESS KNIGHTS OF INSOMNIA asked for it with more than a dozen nominations this week!

Dixie was born June 4th 1987 in Westchester, PA. Her mother is an artist and Leather-crafter and her father is a sheet metal worker and musician.

At a young age Dixie was an skilled artist. She often butt heads with instructors in school and therefore is mostly self-taught. However, she did study Animation at the Art Institute of Philadelphia.

Multi-talented and multi-disciplined, she crafted award winning fantasy costumes and made paintings for publications, art shows, DVD covers, posters, films, TV shows, and promotions. Her work is informed by her love of B-Movies, Horror, Retro Pop Culture, and Kitsch.

This led to a love of TV Horror Hosts. The NY based show ‘Ghoul A Go-Go’ was a subject of her paintings and she became close with the cast. Her genre inspired art also attracted the attention of the California based Nationally Syndicated Horror Host Mr. Lobo who became a fan of her work. Mr. Lobo encouraged Dixie’s artistic ambitions and the two became fast long distance friends. She, of course, was familiar with MR. LOBO from her collection of DVDs. Dixie’s favorite CINEMA INSOMNIA episodes were CREATURE, LAST MAN ON EARTH, and PRINCE OF SPACE. Dixie and her roommate in PA would imitate the Phantom of Krankor’s laugh from CANDLES, KRANKOR, and YOU.

MrsLoboDixie also threw up a sheet in her home and had screenings of shows and MR. LOBO’s NONSTOP MOVIE PARTY: ZOMBIES DVD. She also attended a CINEMATIC TITANIC show dressed as MR. LOBO.

Mr. Lobo visited Dixie on the east coast and their artistic as well as personal collaborations intensified.

Dixie moved to California in 2010 and was co-producer, editor, and stage director for a live ‘Cinema Insomnia’ show at the guild Theater in Sacramento. She ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund a 10th TV season and designed many products and DVDs for the show.

Experienced as a Horror fan, an Artist, Designer, Taste-Maker, and editor of  Horror Hosts and Creature Features Magazine, her duties on the show began with rotating the Hypno-Spinner, delivering secret messages to Mr. Lobo, keeping Mr. Lobo’s table cloth straight at conventions, watching very MISUNDERSTOOD MOVIES, adding a “womans touch” to Mr. Lobo’s projects, ironing neckties, and helping in the Kitchen Set with Insomniac Snacks–but has now expanded to include co-hosting, producing, directing, and creating stand out charaRobot_400wcters like RO-MANA for “War of the Planets”, KOGARELLA for the “Haunted House Special”, and MUMSY for “Hard Days Nightmare”. She has already officially tied the knot with the famous Cinema Insomnia’s host on January 13th, 2012 but the dynamic duo celebrate their semi-anniversary EVERY Friday the 13th no matter what to keep things fresh and exciting. Dixie was instantly loved by nearly all CInsomniacs except for a few jealous houseplants that we wont mention!

Her online version of the print magazine HORROR HOSTS AND CREATURE FEATURES features her painting, design work, writing, and in-depth interviews with B-Heroes like Karen Lewis, widow of Al “Grandpa” Lewis.

She continues to sell her artwork and does commissions in between working on TV shows, films, and live appearances with Mr. Lobo. She designed ads and posters for Blobfest in Phoenixville, The Sacramento Horror Film Fest, and many other film events. She worked in Low Budget Horror films like A HARD DAYS NIGHTMARE(2013), PLAN 9(2015) and the MIDNIGHT SHOW(2016) segment GORE-ILLA as both a make-up/costumer and bit player. MR. LOBO and DIXIE have started a new production collective and channel called OSI-Logo-NewOUTER SPACE INTERNATIONAL that will be launching in October 30th 2015. These two work together like few couples can and have a shared passion for the bizarre and the beyondo. This channel will be the new home of our beloved late night show CINEMA INSOMNIA as well as many other projects produced by the Lobos and their associates–proving that Mr. Lobo’s wife is an achiever as well as a trophy. When Dixie Dellamorto was asked about her recent AWARD as FAN OF THE WEEK, she was overwhelmed and said…

“I have No Comment at this time.”

All hail the First Lady of Kitsch! Congratulations, DIXIE DELLAMORTO LOBO –THE SLEEPLESS KNIGHT OF THE WEEK–for April 24th through the 30th! Thanks for propping up our CINEMA INSOMNIA host MR. Sleepless Knight and Horror Host Fanatic Proves The Pen is Mightier Than The Sword!

LoboprojectoforryTalented artist James “MonsterCola” Richardson has always loved MONSTERS! Even though he was a bit young to watch CREATURE FEATURES(1971-1984), he was aware of macabre masters of ceremonies like ZACHERLEY, ELVIRA, and FORREST J. ACKERMAN. James was primed to be swept up in the renascence of Horror Hosts that was happening in Northern California in the early 2000s. Jim discovered Berkley public access host Doktor Ghoulfinger and Sacramento host MR. LOBO at WONDERCON at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Each year he visited the Horror Host tables with a stack of drawings under his arm and gobbled up DVDs.lecture2

Bigfoot: Mysterious MonsterHe attended CREATURE FEATURE panels there with the Mister Lobo along with senior hosts and local legends BOB WILKINS and JOHN STANLEY. In 2005 CINEMA INSOMNIA began airing on KTEH, Cable 10 in San Francisco, and James became a loyal fan in tune with the sensibility and humor of Mr. Lobo. We asked him what his favorite episode was…

“I always go back to Bigfoot: Mysterious Monster. It’s the perfect blend of a bizarre movie with the uniqueness of CI. I think that was one of the first episodes I saw and it was a great intro into the mind of Mr Lobo.
lobo #1
think I had such a good time meeting and talking to MR. LOBO at the conventions that I felt like I wanted to give something back, and that’s why I did the comics.

lobo strip #3(1)I had never tried doing comic strips before so I figured I would give it a try. I think people who like these kinds of movies and horror hosts are kind of in a secret club so I felt comfortable doing them and showing them to MR. LOBO. “

lobo strip #4a    He designed and wrote this original monthly CINEMA INSOMNIA comic strip that was postlobo strip 3a(1)ed on the CINEMA INSOMNIA website.

MonsterColaHe would meet MR. LOBO in person at many of his his San Francisco WONDERCON appearances and give MR. LOBO original art, including a poster of his favorite Northern California hostJamesRichardsonHostPosters.

He still enjoys tuning into misunderstood films and makes art including the Amazing Lobo piece at the top of the page especially for this article. Most of Jim’s film favorites are from the 80’s like; MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE(1987), HOWARD THE DUCK(1986), TRANSYLVANIA 6-5000(1985) and the BLACK CAULDRON(1985).

Our Sleepless Knight of the Week is a “Monster Kid” and a Total Terror!

537676_475798955803686_144253979_nSIR JERRY TRITT, our Sleepless Knight of the Week, resides in his home in Sacramento, California. In the 60s, he would stay up late to tune into CREATURE FEATURES with BOB WILKINS. He discovered MR. LOBO through the convention circuit and has shown his support by purchasing DVDs of episodes and has even sent some overseas to his son who is in the military. He himself is a collectables dealer and enjoys attending the Sacramento Toy shows along with Sac Con.

220px-TheterrorposterWhen asked what his favorite misunderstood film was, he proudly proclaimed his love for the highly misunderstood 1963 horror classic starring legendary actors JACK NICHOLSON and BORIS KARLOFF entitled THE TERROR.

“Because not one footage in that movie made any sense at all-none whatsoever….So I liked it!”

If you haven’t had a chance to see this misunderstood film, here is the link to CINEMA INSOMNIA’s episode featuring this classic:

Following his love for THE TERROR, we asked him what was his favorite CINEMA INSOMNIA episode thus far. He began cracking up over the details of his answer:

“I think my favorite episode is PRINCE OF SPACE because I just love Krankor! I love the commercial Candles, Krankor, and you. That just cracks me up!”

In the words of the commercial, “Ooo yeah, come on over here!” Check out the CINEMA INSOMNIA episode of PRINCE OF SPACE!

Our Lady Sleepless Knight of the Week Teaches Us a Thing or Two!

DSC03068LADY ANGIE SCHOCH is a child of horror host fans. Her father was a huge fan of CREATURE FEATURES with BOB WILKINS. As a child, Lady Angie would re-watch a VHS tape recording of the classic horror host shows of ZACHERLEY’S HORRIBLE HORRORS and GRAMPA’S SILLIY SCARIES. She would watch tape over and over again to the point of stretching! A true sign of a horror host fan!

P1030146She first discovered MR. LOBO while he was on the airwaves on PBS. According to LADY ANGIE, it was a “surreal experience” when she found something new to her “and strange on late night T.V..” Currently, her favorite episode is a tossup between SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS and the HALLOWEEN SPECIAL featuring BOB WILKINS.

She has a special place in her heart for misunderstood films and the potential they have despite their status. Her response when questioned about her love for misunderstood movies is a true touching response,

“I think that a bad movie created out of love is worth far more than so many mediocre ones created to be marketable, those films don’t offend many but they don’t please either. They are forgotten almost upon seeing, and I much prefer something I will remember, for better or worse. Misunderstood movies create better experiences.”

Other than misunderstood horror films, LADY ANGIE loves silent films and the legendary MARX BROTHERS various films. She recently arrived back in the United States from studying in Swansea, Wales. She is continuing studying for her B.A. for English Literature and mainly concentrates on American Gothic and Arthurian literature. In her spare time, she creates furry creatures our of polymer clay and needle-felt. One of her creatures is featured below:

Purple+Monster Thank you, LADY ANGIE SCHOCH, valued Sleepless Knight for ALL your Support for CINEMA INSOMNIA,watching all those Misunderstood Movies, Horror Hosts, and continuous support! Here is your FAN OF THE WEEK certificate that you can share, download, and print. Congratulations, LADY ANGIE SCHOCH SLEEPLESS KNIGHT OF THE WEEK–April 3rd through April 9th, 2015.

22098_781142725332345_4407590882321473317_nTwo days ago, we asked you that this month was to be chosen by YOU! There were good Theme suggestions but one has prevailed. Ladies and Gentlemen, this month’s theme is…..SLASHERS! No, April Fools!

imagesNow when did the “Slasher Genre” begin? Where do Slasher’s come from? In 1960, Alfred Hitchcock shocked massive audiences around the world with his black and white feature starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh in PSYCHO. The film follows the story of a young woman on the run who decides to make a slight detour to a remote motel run by a disturbed young man by the name of Norman Bates, haunted by the memory of his dead mother.

Not only did PSYCHO frighten people in their seats, but the film inspired future generations of filmmakers. It placed a riff in the minds of writers, making them write screenplays transferred onto the silver screen with hits such as THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE(1974), HALLOWEEN(1978), FRIDAY THE 13th(1980), and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET(1984). This is where we shall spend the next month digging into the minds of slashers and the genre. There will be pictures, posters, trailers, clips, and reviews. But there is one piece of the puzzle we still need: YOU!

the-texas-chainsaw-massacre-movie-poster-1974-1020198670-198x300Do you believe Slasher’s are misunderstood? Which Slasher character is in your book the most misunderstood? Let us know in the comments on this site or our pages! Better yet, show us by sending us clips of your favorite Slasher monster or person along with why you think they are misunderstood and we will share your findings.

If you would like to do any theme related art, post it on our wall or send it to us and it will be shared on our pages. There are so many ways to get involved, join us! You may also take a step further and post your favorite scene, clip, picture or poster of your favorite SLASHER FEATURE on your Twitter or Instagram pages with #CISLASHERMONTH and tag or direct send it to Cinema Insomnia and we will favorite and Retweet/Share your findings.

Now Onto the Winner of Last Month’s CREEPY DOLL CONTEST!

The winner of Baby Lobo, made by Wicked Little Nursery, is…….FINN McCOOL! Finn sent us this picture freaky picture of what appears to be a creepy doll indeed along with his beautifully, smiling family members:

10354687_945356245499254_9178898519950552587_nSIR FIN McCOOL, keep an eye out on your messages for a special message from our intern Cayce Campaign for more details about getting Baby Lobo to you. Baby Lobo is ready for his new home! Thank you Finn and everyone else who participated in last month’s contest! It was a great month and we all appreciate each and every one of you and your…..creepy dolls!

Now, don’t say “You’ll be right back,” Fresh up on your “Slasher Rules,” and Get ready for SLASHER MONTH!
