12375280_803889809722525_9039020640675502330_oEvery Sleepless Knight has a tale to tell…Lady Desiree told us her Sleepless Knight superhero origin. In a way, we are all superheroes in our own lives. Imagine the Sleepless Knights of Insomnia is not only a collective of fans of MR. LOBO and CINEMA INSOMNIA, but a gathering of heroes who together create a “misunderstood” community of individuals and families who make the universe a better place.

Today, we explore the origin of Sleepless Knight Hall of Fame Inductee, Lady Desiree Clary along with her Sidekick/Partner in crime: Philip Rostonovich!

c802ca95ededdd063ec6ea3279f3d522“In the early 1970s, a little girl defied her bedtime hour and crept stealthily along the hallway of her suburban home. Unable to venture further and risk parental ire, yet unwilling to retreat from the spooky glow of the TV, she closed her eyes and stood transfixed by the sounds of ‘Tarantula’ on Creature Features, hosted by venerable (and mega-stogiefied) Bob Wilkins on KTVU.

At roughly the same moment, a few hundred miles to the south, a young boy bravely watched the strangely fuzzy ‘Brain Eaters’ on KHJ’s Fright Night, hosted by gaunt-faced, darkly be-hatted Larry “Seymour” Vincent…from behind the demonstrable safety of the family’s living room sofa.

12784440_10154002204150850_1195764929_nDrawn together, in the fullness of time, by their mutual love for dinosaurs, monster movies and Beat poets, Desiree and Philip settled down in the suburban hinterlands of the SF Bay Area. They became Sleepless Knights at a KFJC Psychotronix evening, when they took the Insomniacs’ Oath together. Thereafter they commenced a program of ‘passively stalking’ Lobo and Dixie online and during subsequent events at the historic Bal Theater in San Leandro. They are proud owners of Horror Hosts magazine Issue #1.

Today, Desiree is an actual, for-reals cyborg pursuing her lifelong fascination with all things historically spookidee into the Halls of Academia. Philip is a VFX artist, happily toiling away in the pixel mines of Burbank, and tends toward the more spaceship-heavy fare of classic Sci-Fi” Desiree finished her story with a grin upon her face.

Desiree, and Phillip, thank you for your support for CINEMA INSOMNIA and MR. LOBO and your undying love for misunderstood films of the past, present, and future. Give a warm hand to the newest Inductees into The Sleepless Knight Hall of Fame!

April Declared Annual FRANKENSTEIN MONTH!

Everyday April is Frankenstein Day! Promote Transplant Awareness! from OSI 74 on Vimeo.

This month holds a very special place in Mr. Lobo’s heart. On both OSI74 and CINEMA INSOMNIA, it is Frankenstein Month/Day/Transplant Awareness Month. For those who have followed closely with Mr. Lobo, you’ll remember last year Mr. Lobo’s son received a kidney from a family friend, making them officially a Frankenstein Family. Transplant donation is truly a life changing event for not only the recipient but also for the donor as well. In honor of this noble and selfless act, April will forever be FRANKENSTEIN MONTH here at CINEMA INSOMNIA.

images (1)This month, we’ll be commemorating the many faces of the FRANKENSTEIN monster. Much like Donors giving a piece of themselves to their recipients in order to save their lives, these actors gave life to Frankenstein’s monster and has kept the character alive for decades. From Boris Karloff to Christopher Lee and onward, we will be honoring each actor who has portrayed Frankenstein through photos, video clips, art, and even Cinema Insomnia’s episode featuring FRANKENSTEIN VS. THE CREATURE (2005). If you have any pictures, posters, fan art, or specific clips you treasure of this creature-post them! Send them to us through the comments or direct message us and we’ll share them! Let’s make this month memorable for all of 2016!

Happy National Donate Life Month! Happy Frankenstein Month!

From MR. LOBO and all of us here at CINEMA INSOMNIA!
