Ooze On First? MR. LOBO is Master of “Scaremonies” for BLOBFEST 2014!

Presented by The COLONIAL THEATRE in commemoration of the Horror/Sci-Fi classic THE BLOB(1958) that was filmed there on location, this fun-filled family friendly celebration features screenings of THE BLOB and other horror classics, a re-enactment of the theater run-out scene from the movie, costume competitions, audience participation, a street fair, special guests,  themed food and drink events, and much more. The whole town gets in on it! AND THIS YEAR–Riding on the spiky tail of GODZILLA fever–This years theme is GIANT MONSTERS!Mothra_heatgun
The famous “Run Out” re-enectment sold-out in 14 minutes this year! BUT is STILL the “must-see” event of the weekend–Gather outside the barricades near THE COLONAL THEATRE Friday, July 11, just before 9 p.m. so you can see with your own eyes as theater-goers dramatically (and hilariously) come running out into the street that has been blocked off by the city.

SAFETY WARNING: When  running out of the theatre–the city–in their wisdom has added the obsticle of permanent planters on the sidewalk—Avoid the Plants–Don’t Face Plant!

Blobfest takes place in and around the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville.

Thblobfest-2013e Fire Extinguisher Parade kicks off Saturday. Mr. LOBO  and “MISS BLOBFEST” will be set up on the Bridge Street in front of the Theater with DVDs, CDs, Art, toys, gifts, 8×10′s and posters as part of the wonderful street fair and will be judging the COSTUME CONTEST with JOEL HODGESON from MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 and other celebrity judges! We’ll be giving away monster BLU-RAY disks, Toy Slime, T-Shirts, Posters, and limited edition “Blobby Cards” made  Sci-Fi Bob Ekman!

mothralobo2HARDY will be displaying his amazing retro-styled  art and handing out HOW-TO DRAW sheets!  The VHS Preservation Society will have dubs of OUT-OF-PRINT classics in DVD format available. Classic Cars and fire trucks usually line the streets! Inside all day–WES SHANK and the ORIGINAL BLOB and KRIS YEAWORTH (son of THE BLOB director SHORTY YEAWORTH) will be with our other special guests on the third floor.

A Double Feature with THE BLOB and MOTHRA(1961) during the day and for the evening show we hit the stage again to present THE BLOB and KING KONG VS. GODZILLA(1962). August Ragone godzillakonglobowill give the audience the low down about Japanese Sci-Fi and Mr. Lobo will lead everyone into THE INSOMNIAC OATH! Plus, More Prizes Surprizes and Ghoul A  Go-Go!

Sunday meet filmmaker CHRISTOPHER MIHM as he presents his new-retro film THE GIANT SPIDER(2013) along with THE BLOB with COLONIAL’S cult movie programmer CHUCK “Dash Daring” FRANCISCO.

  1. Is it that time of year again? BLOBFEST is bigger than almost any Holiday now! ( Well…to the True Believers it is) Got my strawberry yogurt glob just in anticipation! Oh and of course THE BLOB on dvd! Gosh~can life get any better than Lobo Meets The Blob?
