It was written in the stars from the skies over Hollywood to the Giant Octopus filled coasts of Florida and seen around the world. It’s Ed Wood Time. It’s time to pull the strings and guide in the UFOs, to put up the Bat-Signal and call Bela Lugosi up from his eternal slumber, and demand all other filmmakers to step aside. This month belongs to one of the most misunderstood writer/producer/directors of all time.
In honor of the new PLAN 9(2016) being officially released in the US, we celebrate the man who started it all. Ed Wood, Jr. has inspired many directors, writers, producers, artists and actors throughout the years. He proved that dreams ARE worth fighting for no matter what the personal cost may be or what potential criticism you endure. He showed that no matter how wild and outside of the norm your dreams may be, you have the possibility of inspiring generations to come.
This month is all about the misfit givings of film history and in particular Edward D. Wood, Jr.’s creative gift to humankind. This includes images, film clips, and classic Cinema Insomnia Episodes featuring some of his films. Let us remember him in the best way we know how–Taking the Insomniac Oath and not taking our eyes off the Cinema Insomnia pages. What is your favorite Ed Wood feature? PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE(1959)? BRIDE OF THE MONSTER(1955)? ORGY OF THE DEAD(1965)? We want to know! Help us help you Re-Animate your favorite Ed Wood film moments.
Get excited with “Wood” this month!
