You Want a Date? A Date to MITCH MITTENS REVIEW of FRANKENHOOKER that is!

MMReviewsTonight’s tale is about two lovers named Jeffery Franken and his beautiful fiance Elizabeth. Jeffery, a bio-electro technician, uses his spare time attempting to create life or at least a brain with a wondering eye in the middle of it. Elizabeth, on the other hand, tries to be the “normal” part of the relationship but seems to not fit the typical “fit” stereotype and considers herself overweight. Regardless of their differences, Jeffery and Elizabeth are the tragic “Romeo and Juliet” in this 1990’s horror comedy FRANKENHOOKER, recommended by Sleepless Knight Aaron M. Lane.

The opening scenes reveal the groundwork for future events. While celebrating her father’s birthday, Elizabeth is run over by Jeffery’s re-vamped homemade lawnmower, leaving her in pieces and Jeffery…..well……mad. Like taking a power drill to your skull in order to achieve ideas, mad. Ideas that lead you to having dinner with your dead lover’s severed head, ideas on how to create the perfect new body for your dead lover, and figuring out how to re-animate life itself! But seriously, who drills in the back of their head for inspiration? This very scene made me almost wet my basket….never mind that was just Lady Cayce giving me my nightly water shot.

Anyways, Jeffery decides the only way to get the right new body parts for Elizabeth, he’ll have to travel to the Ladies of the Night in downtown New York and in order to kill them he uses “Super crack.”

2485.originalLong story and a mass explosion of several prostitutes later, Jefferey stitches a different body part from each prostitute to create Elizabeth’s perfect body. Much like Frankenstein, Elizabeth’s brain is a little different from how she was from when she had been alive.

How different? You will have to find your copy of FRANKENHOOKER and find out! The rest of this film is filled with shocking kissing scenes, flying heads, and strange creatures that look like they cane out of SOCIETY(1989). After all is said and done, this film is pretty misunderstood in it’s own right. It also has some of those moments where you do a double take not only to the film but also to what you are watching….especially the “Just Say No” message. You did catch that, right? In the end, I give this film about 8 out of 10 Hypnotic Eyes!
